Letter to the grade 4s of 2020

Dear grade 4s of 2020

Welcom to the senior primary campus looking back at my three years at the senior primary it really has been a wonderful three years there have been good times and bad times but mostly good times I have had so much fun at the senior primary I have had fun with friends and teachers I have formed bonds with teachers and lovely relationships the teachers at the senior primary are wonderful they are understanding, kind, caring and loving the senior primary does not feel like a school it feels like a home your class becomes a family your teacher becomes a parent I can assure you your three years at the senior primary will be the best three years of your life at the senior primary you can look forward  to is books by night,swimming galas, athletic days, sports matches,marimbas,choir and choir shows,senior primary productions like the little mermaid and Bugsy Malone I encourage you to maybe try out for a school production they are a lot of fun you make memories and new frienships when your a part of a production but you will make memories anyway at the senior primary.

What is a Digital Footprint?

A digital footprint is a Digital Trail left behind online so your posts,pictures,videos and comments all that stuff is all online.

Is a Digital Footprint Important and why?

A digital footprint is very important and it is important because you need to have a good digital footprint Social Media is important. When you get a job most of the time they will look at your Digital footprint so it would be helpful if you have your achievements online.

Email Etiquette

In our I.T. lesson we have learn't about email etiquette.

What is email etiquette?

Email etiquette is making sure you send a email in the appropriate and polite way.

I have learn't it is rude to use slang in a email and to have spelling mistakes it can be very embarrassing if your teacher reads a email which has loads of  spelling mistakes. 

Here are some very important tips on sending a email in  the appropriate way.

1. Use a salutation.

2. Include a specific email line.

3. Keep it to-the-point 

4. Be professional (no slang)

5. Sign and proofread 

It is very important to be polite when sending a email.

Thinglink Superhero task

Superhero Task

A couple of weeks ago we had to make a superhero stop motion project but we had to make our own super hero character with our partner which was very challenging but we managed to finish and our end product does look really nice.

Our superhero has a tight green suit with leaves raped around her body and a flower crown on her head she has long brown hair but the tips are green.

Our superhero's name is Flora Girl her powers link to her name because flora means plants and flowers.Flora Girl's powers are making plants grow and healing them she can make flowers bloom and change their colours to. The best feature of our Super hero character is her hair which is the most beautiful thing about our character there is a lot of detail that went into it.I would like to improve on her feet they are a bit to big which was a problem because when we were filming she kept on falling over I could definitely improve on that.

Poetry ILT

What is Poetry

Poetry is a piece of writing which can express your emotions some poems sometimes Rhym.

Why do people write poetry?

people write poems to express them selves on paper they can write about anything.

Activities from ILT

We were put into groups for our ILT my group and i had to do these tasks terminology,poetry writing,blackout poetry,analyzing poetry and imagery.

For  terminology  we were given words and had to find out there meaning in a fun way my group and I did our project in explain everything.For poetry Writing my group and I had to write poems in different styles.For black out poetry we were given a page from a book and we had to make a art work out of it by circling the words that were important in the page.For analyzing poetry we were given a poem and were asked questions on it.For imagery we had to choose a poem and we had to make a artwork out of it.

My best activity

My best activity from the ILT was Terminology because we got to do it on our iPad and use explain everything our end product was bright and colourful it was a lot of fun.

My challenging activity

My challenging activity was poetry writing because there were different styles of poetry writing some of them I did not even know what some of them were.

I felt fine performing in front of people because I knew my words and and knew what to to for the poetry slam.

In the poetry ILT I learnt  that i can write good poems and that i can come up with some moves for the poem.

Wonder Precepts

When given the choice between being right or being kind,choose kind


I have started reading the wonderful book called Wonder.
In the book there is a teacher called Mr Browne and he loves Precepts.


What  is a Precept?

A precept is a rule or motto that you live by and that is important to you , for example if you have a famous quote and you apply that quote in a situation and on a daily bases it might help you in important life choices.

"I'm not the best but I am trying my best"

What that quote or Precept means is that you don't have to be the best but you can always try your best.If you do something and you are not that great at it but you are trying your very best then that's all that matters. You don't have to be the best as long as your trying and with a little practice you will start to improve.

A day in a life and home of a child an informal settlement

This morning I was sleeping peacefully when that deafening rooster woke me up I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn’t I decided to take a walk. I strolled through the town and the fresh air blowing through my hair the sun began to rise .I watched as the sun reflected of the shacks I saw some of the shops opening up so walked back to my shack.

My mom was still waking up she asked where I had been I said I went for a walk she said to me thank goodness your back you need to get dressed for school .
I honestly hated school but mom says you need to have a proper education. I didn’t  hate school because of the work, it was because of the three bullies they would always pick on me and my friend Lizzy.

I walked to Lizzy’s shack, and we walked to school together but as we arrived at school no surprise Nelson,Sheila and jack were there, the school bully’s .They called me and Lizzy all types of names it was very annoying I didn’t like it at all. Finally class started we did maths and English. After that it was break it was cold and wet and the tare was wet and black the sun hid behind the clouds. I was so hungry my stomach began to rumble Lizzy was lucky, she had lunch but she didn’t have much she was so kind to me to let me have someone her lunch  the bell rang and we all went in side.

After break we did Afrikaans I found it hard to pronounce some words, after all I am 13. The Afrikaans is difficult and my classroom isn’t the best . It is made from corrugated iron and and there are only a couple of desks so we were all squished
together. There weren’t enough text books for all of us  which made it very difficult to learn for a test. Social Science was the last subject for the day after school I strolled through the street .I had to make dinner for my family my parents worked really late so when they came back from a long day at work dinner was ready. I probably cut myself every time I cooked for my family after cooking I did my homework .


I always wonder how the rich people live if they have piles of matresses to sleep on. I wish I had a proper house to live in with a brick wall and a fluffy pillow just like a cloud and when I put my head down it is the softest thing imaginable. I wish everyone had a proper house but I guess it will only happen in my dreams

The singing inspector

The singing inspector came yesterday he was so rude to us is name was Raymond I absolutely hated him he was a bully Mr.R called us one by one to sing a song but I thought to myself why would somebody ever sing to him.

First Benny and Charles sang together ,not trying to be rude but there singing was dreadful I didn’t enjoy it at all after .First Benny wouldn’t sing but Mr.R ‘s face quickly changed from a light pink like a peach to red like a tomato he had golden curls like Goldie locks you know about  that story Mr.R forced them to sing .

His face probably went red from the tight pants he was wearing or was it the anger I think it was both Benny and Charles only got to sing half way through their song when Mr.R said to them get out you idiots you don’t belong in my class and he pointed at the door I felt sorry for them but their singing was very very bad

I went and I sang a classic song that I always heard but Mr.R didn’t seem so thrilled I felt uncomfortable and nervous I wonder what was he thinking this girl is an absolute idiot it was frightening I thought I did pretty good but Mr.R was thinking something completely different that was pretty good if I do say so myself.

It was Gladys and Iris’s turn to sing after me ,they were not bad but what I wish I didn’t see was that Gladys was shaking like a leaf poor girl Iris didn’t even open her mouth Mr.R shouted out you little stupid girl that was awful my ears have never heard such a terrible sound. It was the worst day of my life.

News in Grade 5

Last week all of the Grade 5 classes took three days off,of a normal school day to do ILT. We got put into pairs by our teachers and we had to find a unusual soil creature we had to design a poster  and do an oral it was definitely a challenge but in the end it was wonderful my parter an I did the Mining Bee

We found a lot of information on the mining bee and when we had all the information we had to put it on a google doc and once that was finished we went and did our poster once then we did our oral it was a lot of fun we got to dress up.We dressed up as Mining bees

I am hoping camp is going to be fun I get a bit nervous when we are driving there but I always get there safely I miss my mom and dad sometimes. I am exited to do fun tasks and to climb on the climbing wall and swim in the river because I love swimming I really want to find out who am I going to be with in my caben I have never been to high Africa before but it is going to be really fun(well I hope so) and I hope no mosquitoes.

My exiting holiday news

In the holidays I went to Pearly beach. It took three hours to get to Pearly beach I stopped  on the way .For lunch  I had  a burger and coke and after we drove. and  I read a book and I took pictures and I played on my . iPad  and finally I got there.

Endangered Animal Research project

I have been doing research on endangered animals and I chose a Zebra. Zebras have stripes they are black and white . Did you know that Zebras are 1.2m tall and they are 2m long. Let me tell you how much they weight. Zebras weigh 450 kg .Zebras are herbivores that means that they don't eat meat. They eat plain grass and leaves.
